Good luck to everyone participating in the events this weekend. Thank you for getting out there and making a difference. Ride and run strong, but above all else, be safe!

Newly "named terrain" you're most looking forward to skiing/riding?

While I realize that people's long time stashes are being thinned and named and some are unhappy about this, now that SR has tagged a few more glades for opening this year, what area are you most…Continue

I've always been impressed and grateful during the early season when I see the lifties filling trash cans with snow and moving them up hill to re-surface the lift ramp.So what do you do when you have…Continue

And I don't mean from Three Mile Down. See More

I've always been impressed and grateful during the early season when I see the lifties filling trash cans with snow and moving them up hill to re-surface the lift ramp.So what do you do when you have a nearly mile-long connector trail that is crucial to moving skier traffic and the only hydrants are at either end of the trail?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF29I3tSLSsSee More

Thanksgiving Day Hours?

OK, so for many years (As long as I can remember) SR opened on 8:00 on Thanksgiving day as it was considered a holiday. (Not surprising 'cause it is) This changed last year and the mountain announced that they would open at 9:00, like any other mid-week day.So yes, my question is whether the lift(s) will spin at 8:00 or 9:00. I know that many people liked the 8:00 opening because it allowed them to ski on TDay and be back to wherever for family events. Can we open at 8:00 please? I promise not…See More

Halloween Conditions - A Reflection & A Complaint!

This isn't so much an open letter to the mountain as it is a question to others who braved the conditions on the mountain today. Well, what did you think? Don't hold any punches. Yep, it's late October, but there are some opinions out there and I think they need to be shared. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful for what the mountain does and the mere fact the mountain is open, but there are some days where either the mountain should be open or some additional trail work is needed if…See More

Wilderness House done already?

I saw over on AZ that Wilderness House closed up shop in Boston. Having been by the store in Scarborough lately, I noticed that they were closed and the sign in the door said they were opening in downtown Portland. Hmmm. Sounds strange. Their Facebook page has some unmoderated "claims" on it. It seems like they spent a ton of someone's money to get their name out there, but never saw many cars in the lot at SR. I don't like to see any business go under and I have an affinity for ski shops, but…See More

Who's Heading to SL this weekend for final days?

I understanding that most folks have packed it in and I can see this as being reasonable, but I bet there are still a few folks itching to make some more turns. Last weekend was a blast on the hill and in the parking lots of SL and the Mountain View. This weekend should be more of the same. I know Jewels, Vortex, and Vortex Jr. are in and I know that there are a bunch of folks on the fence. Anyone else gonna make it up for a day or two?See More

Real Time Snow Report?

What happened today on the hill? The SR website says the mountain got an inch of snow but doesn't mention any ncp. I can only assume that if SL got reign and freezing reign, SR did too. How was it and how will the precip affect the week's conditions? Thanks!

What you do when you're not skiing or riding
Work and sleep. Oh yeah, in the summer I sail.
I like to nap. I like to write crappy novels that sit on editors desk or in their recycling bin. I like to travel, but traveling to ski destinations is the best. I love ski history.
