A huge thank you to the resort and the snomaking/mtn ops team for a season that has been better than what we might have expected from such a warm year.  Looking at the long range, it appears winter…Continue

wildfire training request

To be clear, I have no problem with racing and/or training for such. I am wondering if a sign noting wildfire is closed for training could be placed at the junction of cascade/wildfire and not just…Continue

Snowmaking

A huge thank you to the resort and the snomaking/mtn ops team for a season that has been better than what we might have expected from such a warm year.  Looking at the long range, it appears winter may run out of cold after this weekend for the 15 day window.  If that is the case, and the resort makes some snow this weekend, could we get a bit more on lower obsession?  The new snow helped a lot last week but prior to it, a bit of dirt/rock was showing up.  I know that trail is a pain to hold…See More

wildfire training request

To be clear, I have no problem with racing and/or training for such. I am wondering if a sign noting wildfire is closed for training could be placed at the junction of cascade/wildfire and not just at the top of wildfire around the quad. This way those skiers trying to get to their condo/home or even car via wildfire to RR would know ahead of needing to turn around and skate/walk back up to cascade. Kind of like the nice sign on Jim's when it is open from upper punch but only to locke line due…See More

Just updated my bookmark and the new mobile web is extremely cool with capability to quickly link to a ton of great info. Just curious if this is the first rollout of the new software platforms SR was releasing that Darcy had mentioned in a previous discussion. If so, first release is a big winner!

2011-2012 Ski Mag Resort Rankings

Congrats to Sunday River, the only East Coast Boyne resort in the Top 10 this year at #8 and the only Boyne Resort period in that and West Top 20.  Gained a lot of ground over it's ranking last season.

Sugarloaf Chair Derailment

I'm sitting in SFO and just heard on CNN SL suffered a chair derailment, I think one of the spillway lines. Sounds like 3 or 4 chzirs with skiers/riders on it fell to the ground and that there are injuries. Ugly.

Loon's "New" seven brothers lift

Anyone else ventured by Loon this year and seen the new loading carpet on seven brothers triple? Kind of interesting, seems to work quite well. I wonder if Boyne is using it as a testbed for some other upcoming lift upgrades at SL and SR. I could definitely see that used on spillway with a fixed quad up to the crossover as there is no room there for a detach terminal. Seems like they add a bit more speed to the line as well with the carpet. It's almost easier to load than a detach!
