3rd Annual MHS Film Festival & Survivor Pool -- The Final Tally

I just tallied the money from the door, the raffles, random donations and First Giving, and am thrilled to report that the event raised $2,176 for MHS!  Add to that the $3,280 you all raised through the 2011 NFL Survivor Pool and this community has topped $5,000 for the fall!  That's the equivalent of a brand new sit ski!!!  This is an enormous feat that clearly took an army, and each of you who helped in any way should be enormously proud.  THANK YOU ALL!!!Particular thanks go to MB and…See More

2011 Beach to Beacon 10K

As many of you know, MHS gets registration slots reserved for this prestiguous event each year.  We still have some of our slots for this year's race available for folks willing to raise $400 for MHS.  The 2011 race takes place on Saturday, August 6th in Cape Elizabeth.  It's a beautiful course and always draws a world class field.  This year's registration sold out in 8 minutes, so having registration slots still available is pretty nice. If you or anyone you know is interested in running the…See More

Thank You!!!

Sorry to be so late saying a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in the Ski-A-Thon weekend!  We have tallied over $300,000 so far, and pledges continue to trickle in.  This is a big success in a very challenging fundraising environment, so we applaude and appreciate your additional work on our behalf. To all of the Ski-A-Thon team members, volunteers, sponsors, firefighters, chili cooks, judges and, most of all, Sunday River, thank you on behalf of everyone at Maine Handicapped Skiing!!!  We…See More

What a GREAT season it has been and the big day is finally right around the corner.  Thanks to everyone who has been fundraising!  It's not too late either.  In fact, most of Ski-A-Thon's revenue generally comes in during the final week.  So, get your team signed up and please keep asking on behalf of MHS. Here are some helpful links to get you pumped up: Watch last year's Ski-A-Thon slideshow …See More

Huge thanks to two very generous GACP racers!

Yesterday at MHS, we had the opportunity to thank Sam Rotner (14) and Maddox Ormiston (11) for some incredible stuff that they have done on behalf of MHS. Sam asked for donations to us in lieu of gifts at his bar mitzvah, and contributed $2,000, as well as a $20 bill he found at Barker yesterday, to MHS.Maddox hosts design parties for Anna Street handbags, and she has given MHS nearly $700 each of the last two years from her sales commission. These two incredible young people served as…See More

Thank you Survivor Pool organizers and players!!!

Yesterday, MHS was presented with $2,000 by a delegation who was proud to represent all of you and our entire community is extremely grateful!  Super Bowl Sunday was day three of our sixth annual (and biggest ever!) Veterans No Boundaries program, and the whole weekend has included some of the most rewarding and memorable experiences in MHS memory.  Yet, this presentation and the community involvement/support that the participants and instructors involved in the VNB program felt from it was…See More

MHS Ski-A-Thon Basics: A Brief Tutorial

For those less familiar with this event and how it works, we wanted to dedicate a thread to filling you in and catching you up.  The 26th Annual MHS Ski-A-Thon takes place on Saturday, March 26th this year.  This is our largest fundraiser by far and it has become absolutely crucial to our ability to operate and grow as an organization.  Even with donated lift tickets and volunteer instructors, it still costs over half a million dollars every year to run our year-round programs throughout…See More
