Vail buys Kirkwood

Check out this link Check Here. It's a very interesting view of Vail Resorts.  Having skied all their resorts this season, I say this article is spot on. I think you will see a lot of Sunday River in this story.  But, Boyne is not Vail, each resort is managed very differently.  Vail is a brand, you know you get a great experience by going to one of their resorts.See More

Peak Resort's Initial Public Offering

Interesting read if you care to understand the economic of a ski area. My question to you, is do you really?  Or do you just care about the quality of skiing? Me I find this stuff very interesting.  I always like to know how a business ticks.  My guess is most people don't.  Peak Resort’s Initial Public Offering. What’s Going On?Back on April 18th, Peak Resorts filed an S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to take the…See More

Loon Community to close - How this impact us?

I just got a notice that Loon is closing its community.  I hope it doesn't happen here.  I have noticed that participation has dropped, or at least that is my impression.  Facebook could be hurting us.  The format of the boards could be hurting us.  The number of communities has grown dramatically has hurt us.  Personally I like this format much better then Facebook and I hope we aren't closed too.  What do you all think? Loon Mountain CommunityA…See More

Killington vs. Sunday River

I made the same post last year.  I don't think it's a fluke. I just ski Killington today, there conditions are nowhere near as good as Sunday River. There fairly good coverage, but on many trails there expose rock and dirt.  I was skiing down Needles Eye came over a mogul and could avoid skiing two or 3 feet of rock, my skis loved it (LOL).  I saw a lot of bare spots on Devils Fiddle.  Now to be fair, most of the trails that were open were fully covered with snow.  But I believe they had over…See More
