Yeah, what those guys said.....
No rope = I'm skiing it, but will respect the racers and stay off the training course... Nothing new there... Race Training shouldn't close a whole trail, but it does usually on a select few trails that are less crowded, and offer the racers what they need, like a descent lift(s) to lap the course, and the necessary terrain for them....
Race Events are a whole 'nother story though, and usually do mean that the trail is closed for the duration of the event.

Then if you could get the racers to just stay in that area it would be very helpful instead or running full out on trails such as Dream Maker, a beginner trail.

Permalink Reply by Maineskier69 on February 6, 2012 at 7:29am We hit just as they were setting up gates and looked at the sign. It mentions "course closed to public", but what about the rest of the trail? So we went ahead and enjoyed the cord on the sides (there was no race on yet).
Thanks to Mrs MB for the Cascade suggestion, it was a great finish to the day.
Skied to Wildfire on Saturday while two coaches were stationed at the top of course. A few paying customers new to the mountain were hiking back up around the Tempest chair after looking at their maps, figuring how to get to Barker.
Do you think these gentlemen would suggest it's ok to ski on both sides of the course, why hell no. I yelled up to the confused patrons and suggested they could follow my group of outcasts down to Barker via Wildfire. They opted not to, probably because of the oversized " Course Closed to the Public " sign and were in fear someone would pull their pass.
Getting tired of seeing this over and over. Might be time to make some new signs for Wildfire.
Was the rope drawn across the trail? If not, then the trail is open but they don't want you on the course. The instance I posted, the sign was up and THE TRAIL WAS CLOSED (rope was drawn across it as well).
