To be clear, I have no problem with racing and/or training for such. I am wondering if a sign noting wildfire is closed for training could be placed at the junction of cascade/wildfire and not just at the top of wildfire around the quad. This way those skiers trying to get to their condo/home or even car via wildfire to RR would know ahead of needing to turn around and skate/walk back up to cascade. Kind of like the nice sign on Jim's when it is open from upper punch but only to locke line due to training on T2 so you know what is what before getting to the rope. Thanks!

I second this... it's happened to me a couple of times this year... I did NOT want to ski to the Tempest Quad....  really put a time constraint on my day..not to mention Tempest was the only trail open at the time and had I been a less experienced skier I might have been VERY unhappy...

Have mentioned this more than a few times over the years, and have asked politely to whomever was in charge if they could get an trail closure sign posted before approaching the top of the Tempest chair coming off Cascades.

There is never any pattern as to when THEY choose to close this trail, but it is one that I love to ski, and it is often too late after you pass the top of lift #9 to realize your not welcome on it.

I will forward it along.

Hey Guys!

Sorry about the lack of signage. Wildfire should not have been closed yesterday anyways. I've passed the word onto the Comps & Events Manager. Thanks for the feedback. Anything to make for a better experience out there :)

I would also love this.

I've had to do that unfortunate skate back up to Cascades many times when going in for lunch...

Thanks Shelley.

It is funny to watch folks ski, just as far as you can to see if the sign is up or down, and sometimes an issue with skiers coming off the lift.

I wondered about that closure when I saw it  yesterday.

If just that sign is up and, the rope is not across the trail, (as it was set up yesterday) is it really closed or just hijacked? In the future if there is no rope I would assume its not closed.

YEAH, I hate training on WildFire as much as anyone,....BUT,..

after numerous rejections to get back to Barker via WF,.. I learned to READ the sign.(and was told by coach)

It reads,...Race Training in progress, course closed to public.

Trail is open,.. course is closed

Still sucks to not have the whole width to run

i asked this ? a few weeks back....my thinking is if rope is down and sign says race training in progress course is closed...then I ski it....but stay out of the course.

Just what we were told a couple years ago (only on WildFire)

Ok, to be clear, the rope was up yesterday along with the sign when I came across it. The trail was closed off completely to the public. Hence my request for a sign so you don't get to the rope to have to skate back uphill and against offloading white cap quad traffic.

Rope and sign when I skied by on the way home for lunch on Sunday at Noon.
