On the weekends of March 26th and April 2nd, I couldn't help notice lift # 15 the Oz Quad running while most everything west of North Peak shut down due to Mother Natures cruel games.

I never made it over to Oz on those two occasions but felt SR was finally giving that area a chance to be used and appreciated by a large number of advanced skiers, who on wind hold days are eager for more challenging terrain to open.

While skiing yesterday, I saw many of you enjoying the last turns of the season out in that area. The snow coverage is unreal for this time of year when you consider how the numbers for total snowfall were way down.

When I see that 6 lifts are scheduled to be open for next weekend, I can't help dream that management might try something new this year by running the same number of lifts only in different areas than usual. More terrain for all abilities, and more snow.

Well said.  I can only hope that we see Jordan, OZ, Aurora next weekend...shut it down during the week and maybe we get one more weekend over there?  Either way, at least some lifts are still turning.

I just deleted another thread I started one minute after this one

It would be nice just to spin #14. Rope off Aurora but run Jordan. We can access so much of the best Terrain (and right now the best snow) with that one lift. If they are going to run #7 then why not?

Shut down spruce if need be.

+1, would be unreal.  You could run Jordan lift and Quantum triple (so we can get Celestial, Monkey, Vortex & other Aurora runs) Ski from top of Spruce down to Jordan. Would have all of OZ, Jordan, Aurora...there would be some lapping involved if you wanted to ski the Aurora runs....one more weekend would be great.
Patrol was busy taking the pads off the lift towers on that end this weekend which means the curtain is closing....
Ruby Palace was absolutely MINT (along with everything else).
As MB stated, just glad we can still get some lift service.

Interesting seeing the pads come off the Jordan towers while ICaramba was still open and replacing the pad with just a stick.  Nice to know that SR cares about safety except for the last 4 hours of the season.  And if just a little orange and black stick is all that's needed to safely mark the lift towers, why not just throw some orange paint on the towers in the off season and skip the pads next year?

I also saw them collecting the ropes used to close off Blind Ambition and Wizard's Gluch as they won't need them if the whole side is closed.  It doesn't look like there's much chance of re-opening Jordan for next weekend. They are cleaning everything up.

And they were taking chairs off the Quantum Leap triple on Sunday so they are already starting summer maintenance.

While I don't like seeing the mountain shrink down, I can't blame them - the crowds were way to light this past weekend.

While I would love to see Aurora/OZ/Jordan re-opened, I don't see it happening. I do hope they consider running the White Heat Quad this weekend though. It is much easier logistcally then opening the Western peaks and White Heat, Shock Wave, and Obsession all have great coverage and are a lot of fun in the Spring.
We watched them remove the pads on Ruby on Sat pm.  MS69 still hadnt come down yet, so I am surprised they pulled them off so early (just kidding Big Jim).  I know it is over out there, just wishful thinking on my part.  Looks like SL is fully open today.  We are making a run up there next Monday or Tuesday depending on which day looks warmer.. Agony, Locke Line-Tightwire-CrossBow bumps should be great next week.

Highly doubt Lock Line-Tightwire-Crossbow will be in play by next week, but time will tell.

Why not?  It was fine this weekend...fingers crossed.

it's simple...

Team SRC Obliterated OZ this past weekend, nothing left to see here folks!

Just a guess, as it is going to be very warm this week with periods of "precipitation". I think the natural will start to go fast. I have no doubt the snowmaking trails should hold up well though, and it is looking to be a great last couple weeks overall.

*Nothing* running right now.  Of course you wouldn't know that if you just read the daily mountain report - no hint of any problems.  I scanned the twitter feed to see a note about the hold until the storm passes.
