....with a peak elevation at 5500 feet.

I always said that Sunday River should add some vertical to their resort. Guess they finally listened.

Darcy?

Looks like someone added base and vert together...that 3140 is top elevation at OZ. Jr, remember Alta is 2000 vert...more to resorts than counting vert....and no I am not comparing Alta's skiing to SRs....just a vert comparison.
Not a huge fan of Alta because of all the traversing you need to do to get to the real goods. I ski there and it's great area, but I like some of the other areas in Utah better.

A for the article mentioned above, it clearly states "Vertical: 2,340 ft. ... Base Elevation: 3,140 ft."

Me thinks that someone in Marketing at SR (wonder who that could be) clearly mis-stated the mountains' stats. Almost as good as (but not quite) 57 inches of snow. That baby takes the cake for sure.

You guys better be ready for the new crowds that will be flying to SR from all over the world. Once the word gets out about 2340 vertical and 57 inch dumps, you guys are gonna be swarmed with skiers and riders from all over the world looking to get at those Newry goods.

Official mountain stats say 2340 vertical:

The article just got the base and summit elevations mixed up.
Jr, hit the pharmacy and get some refulls on the meds.
refulls ?

I skied the DEEP SNOWPACK at killington last weekend. Epic.
yep, that is when your refills are full.
Thanks for the heads up Junior.

I called MELiving.com and they admitted to not knowing when the last time they updated the content on that page (to quote: "it's been years"), which explains the many statistical errors. Fortunately they gave me an email to the blogger responsible for content so hopefully this page will be updated with new information soon.

For the time being, MonkeyBrook is right in that our mountain stats are available online: http://www.sundayriver.com/TheMountain/Mountain_Statistics.html

Hope this helps,

No problem kiddo. Always looking out for my pals at Sunday River. Keep up the good work.

Glad that is over. We need that 2 hours back in our lives.
ANYTHING better to do?????
ANYTHING???????

There's got to be.

How did you find that???
Do you just keep googling Sunday River and reading s***????

Nope. It was cross posted off another board. I was not the one who found it. Just passing it along. No I do not spend my day googling Sunday River. You should know better. I waste my days in this chatroom, not googling Sunday River.

I don't know what you're upset about. If my home mountain grew a couple of thousand feet in elevation, I'd be thrilled, but I guess that's just me.

As for the actual vertical statistic itself, I've taken the Liberty (no pun intended) of checking out the topo map of the 6 (?) peaks at SR. I'm trying to figure out where the 2340 vertical feet is. Maybe its from the top of one mountain peak to the base of another, but I'm not sure. I don't see anywhere on the map where you could ski 2340 vertical feet. Maybe you need multiple lifts to get that vert in. I don't know how SR measures its vertical. You know the place a lot better than I do. Maybe you could show me where that run is. 2340 vertical is serious business. If SR does indeed have that, then I've been wrong about your mountain the whole time and I apologize for that.

From where to where at SR is the 2340 vertical feet? I can show you where the 3150 vertical feet at Killington is. Maybe you could do the same for me at SR (without the marketing spin)?

Also, I don't like your tone. Watch the attitude.
