Both. Sox and Yankees will finish #1 and #2 in the division, and #2 will be good enough for a Wildcard. I wouldn't be surprised if both Wildcard's come from the AL East and Tampa Bay is in there as well.
Toronto and Baltimore will fade.

What are the chances of the Yankees or Red Sox making the playoffs this year?

I seem to remember hearing someone say let's wait to judge the season until we hit the quarter pole?????

Now who could that have been????

It was fun for the 42 games where I could bag on the Sox.....need to start winning or I will need to be quiet.

Not sure the odds are in your favor; but, if there is a club that can make the turnaround, it'll be either the six or yanks.
I can't see the Orioles holding for the whole season.

Phillies have also been surprisingly bad this year too.

Wheeler, you are kidding right? So, we waiting to half way point and sox are .500 inlast place...what has your statement prooved exactly?

My Uncle tried out for the Phillies, so I think I know what I am talking about. :) Actually, I am a casual fan and not that knowledgeable about the sport. I just think that despite their weaknesses, both teams have the skill and experience to come out on top. Either way, it will be fun to watch!

HA!

It aint over. I expect the Sox and spanks to be 1 - 2..... in that order. You wanna go Double or nuthin on the sixer you owe me cause you know now that they wont fire BV in the middle of the year now.... right??

They stay at this pace and who knows what you'll be saying come the all star break.

you predicted that the last two seasons, how did that go?  Remember Sox didnt even make the playoffs last two years...but I am always up for a bet so you are on.

Yanks win 2 in a row, about time.  Pettitte looked great again last night.  Pitched into the 8th, 8Ks, 1BB, 2 runs....era under 3.0.  A-Rod 2 HRs, about time.  Jeter 3 more hits, moves into a tie for 15th place with Paul Waner.  Amazing that DJ will be in top 10 real soon.  159 more hits and he moves past Willie Mays and into 10th place all-time.  2 more to get by Brett and 32 more to get by Ripken....

I've always been a bit jealous of the Yanks having Jeter.  Great player, and a pretty good all around guy from what I can tell.  Good for him.  I am watching to see where he ends up on many of the all time lists.

Jeter's overrated.
