I am excited SR is finally making snow on Tempest (see my earlier post in the year about when they would do it). But are they really only making snow on that 1 trail (they are couting it as two, for upper and lower tempest)? Seems like a waste of cold weather. I know they make snow on trails and don't always count them (not sure why), but I am not there to see in person where snow is being made.

Still issues with frozen pipes? You would think they would be firing on all cylinders to get things ready for the Christmas week.

I noticed the same thing as I love to know where is snow being made. Just a little something to look forward to and make the week go by while not on the hill.

A look a the webcam at South Ridge shows snow being made on Whoville.  My son and many others will be happy to have T72 and hopefully Whoville for the holiday week.

Yeah, maybe it is under promise, over deliver they are going for.  Personally, I think it would be cool if the snowmaking map was real time (and maybe 24-48 is fine too), but I am a geek and I love that kind of data.  Their marketing in the 80s and early 90s where all around their snowmaking.  They should leverage that in some way.  On a related note, I think their online marketing does a good job responding to negative feedback/comments on facebook.

I just want to know if they are making snow on bear paw :P

Hey hey, now...

They can't make snow on Bear Paw or even open it until they update their interactive map to include it anyways.

  1. They cannot even update the snow report or lift status this morning and you want up to date snowmaking info??????????????

Based upon how the report itself is written, I have come to believe that whoever normally does the reporting/updates is off on Wednesday and Thursday. At least that has been the trend the last couple of weeks. Just an observation anyway

Whoever is responsible for answer the private messages on their Facebook group seems to respond really quickly (within 10 minutes), so maybe ping them, see what they say about updating the report. Their information hasn't always been accurate (I asked them when they were going ot make snow on Bear Paw 2 weeks ago and they said they planned on starting that night, but maybe their new equipment isn't working, who knows).

you guys are beyond high maintenance.

Its a discussion board, to discuss.  It is what was on my mind this morning and this is the only place I know to ask Sunday River things where people who have the same interest in Sunday River.  My intention isn't to complain, but discuss, learn, suggest, etc.  But I am a new owner at Sunday River, so it is like owning a pool, the first year, you open the pool early, close it late, etc. Next year, you close the pool first week in September and barely swim all sumer.  So basically, next year, I will not care about snow making, etc, and you'll only see me on the mountain on Powder days.

Omg - my thoughts exactly!  Get a hobby or busy so you don't have all this free time to analyze snowmaking. I'm going to strap on skis Saturday AM and figure out what to ski then.  Until then it's 37 gifts to buy, food shopping, laundry, packing, wrapping all while drinking egg nog and such :)

Snowmaking does seem to be underperforming this year so far but that seems to be the trend.  I think it's been a few years since they could last claim their 200-300 guns going at once. There must be an infrastructure issue.  In the past, with a cold December like this year, we'd have White Heat, Vortex, couple trails on Jordan and they'd be making snow on Lost Princess.  Now we get 2 weeks of snowmaking for a park instead.  They made snow for a week on Lollapolooza and it's still not open.  They hadn't touched Kansas as of last weekend and I haven't seen it in the snow reports.  Something's not working right.  It's a good thing Mother Nature might be trying to pick up the slack soon.
