The BCS is done for another year. Hopefully, the powers that be are listening to the snickers and laughter of their system, and moving towards setting up a real playoff within the next 2-3 years as has been reported.
Meanwhile, the NFL playoffs are underway. There was only one upset this past weekend, which results in a re-match between the "Tebows" and the Pats this coming weekend...
I predict Pats will get past the Broncos, and then the Ravens in the AFC championship, but unfortunately I agree with Peter King of SI that they will ultimately lose to the Saints in the SB.
Do y'all have any predictions on the road to Indy?

Is everyone confident that Saints will beet Green Bay ? funny that Bowl is in Indy and they tanked so bad.
Permalink Reply by Glade Monkey on January 11, 2012 at 10:04pm I am definitely NOT confident about any of the games. That's the beauty of making them play.
GB has their work cut-out to beat the Giants. And the Saints beating the 49ers is a toss-up.
I am just taking a swag & projecting ahead, and giving advantage to the Saints inside for the final.
Actually the Giants are peaking at just the right time and the 49ers are woefully underrated, so either game could go the other way. How's that for hedging?!?
SuperBowl locale irony is just like Dallas last year - build a new stadium then you too can possibly host the big party. Should be interesting at the Meadowlands, errr MetLife Stadium in 2014 (let it SNOW!)

Permalink Reply by RobSki44 on January 11, 2012 at 10:29pm Wouldn't surprise me to see the Giants shock the Packers. if they do, and it's Giants vs. Saints in a dome (Saints would host this matchup) then I'd have to say Saints would take it and I would then expect them to win it all. if it's Saints vs. Pack in GB it could go either way but I'd lean towards GB. (I'd love to see some snow football.... that would tell us if the Saints offense can really get it done outside of a dome).
in the AFC, my heart says Pats but that Defense better show up or we probably lose the AFCCG to the Ravens. (I like Houston as a team but don't expect them to be Baltimore this weekend).
Permalink Reply by MonkeyBrook on January 11, 2012 at 11:06pm What? Did the Packers already beat the Giants...Gmen had Packers beat in regular season...Rogers with amazing drive in last 30 seconds to steal the game....Gmen playing very good football, watch out.

Permalink Reply by MonkeyBrook on January 11, 2012 at 11:30pm Love Brees too and the Saints kicked Giants ass this year but it wasnt the same Giants team. The power of the Giants team is their D line which is now back and healthy.....if they can put pressure on Rogers they have a fighting chance. The Giants will move the ball at will against the Packers D which is awful (Packers actually gave up more yards than they gained this year)....key to the game is putting Rogers on his tail about 10x. Because I am biased, I go with Giants 38, GB 35....reverse score of their regular season game tha was played when the Packers were 12-0. I am not yet worried about the Saints yet, as they still need to get by SF and SF D is strong and doesnt give up many points...just not sure SF can score...they will need 27 to beat NO. What a weekend, snow and playoff football. I will be in all my glory on Sunday around 730 pm heading to cho sun...that is if Giants win that game. I think I promised to do a dance down main street if it happens.....

Permalink Reply by Beasley on January 12, 2012 at 8:41am We were talking on a football thread about the weather in Lambeau and how it will affect the games. The Giants might be OK with it, but I'd expect a southern dome team like New Orleans to suffer.
But, what about Green Bay themselves? They are a fast, pass-based offense. Force them into a bad-weather running situation and it takes away the heart of their game. Of course, it also makes it harder for the opponents to pass, which partially alleviates their greatest weakness on defense.
Remember, last year when the Pack won the Superbowl, they were a wild card, so they didn't play in Lambeau.
Permalink Reply by RobSki44 on January 12, 2012 at 12:58pm looking windy in Foxoboro Saturday night. hopefully it won't be too much of a factor.
if it is NO and GB at Lambeau I hope it's snowing and nasty! lets see these teams (especialy NO) show they aren't just mamby-pamby Arena league passing teams.
Has GB had a nasty weather outside game yet this year? can't say I remember one.
Permalink Reply by Beasley on January 12, 2012 at 1:43pm No, I don't think I've seen one, either. The weather in Green Bay for the game against the Giants on Sunday will be in the 20s, with partly cloudy skies.
Last I looked, the line on Giants-Packers is up to 9 points. I'd expect the game to be closer. Same with the Pats-Broncs at 14 points. It could be a blowout, of course, but the Pats always make it look closer than it should have been.

Permalink Reply by MonkeyBrook on January 12, 2012 at 1:58pm They always say bad weather benefits the offense...WRs making cuts have clear advantage of D backs trying to stay with them....also saw a stat at one point saying scoring doesnt suffer with cold or snow but does with rain.
