It's good to see Mt Abram will be back this season with their temporary lodge. The sad news is that most of the bar staff from last season will be returning. I've never seen such a group, who make part of their living on tips, ignore and basically not care whether they wait on anyone or not. It's discouraging when they choose to not make any eye contact with customers and always have their heads looking at the floor so they don't have to wait on customers.

Solution: promote Susan to bar manager and fire everyone else.

Some cheese with that whine?

Really?

Although I didn't frequent LBL often, the times we did were enjoyable and had no issues with the service (and it was during very busy times/SR Silverpass blackout days).

From what I gathered on my visits there, they have a solid local clientele who were very friendly and welcoming.  Followings like that don't just happen due to bad service.

Wishing an entire staff to lose their jobs is keeping the holiday spirit alive.

Yeah,   I worked there today, and, Loose Boots staff is least of worries at this point.

Alot of work needs to be done in order to get the lodge up and running.

A massive undertaking even if it had been planned .

I think when it's done, it will present a unique atmosphere, and maybe, that alone will create

the changes you are looking for. Tent parties rock.

My only regret is that the Mountain Explorer will NOT be making the weekend drinking runs from SR.

Mt ABrams could not justify the cost ($1,200 for 18 nights of service) when they already have their hands full just to open beforen Xmas.

I wish them the best of luck.  And this community will definately make a road trip in support of their efforts.

LONG LIVE THE LOOSE BOOTS!!!!

based on this here cross section of SR regulars, why would you expect the staff to enjoy serving them on silver black out days. Why wouldn't they appreciate their local clientele who tip appropriately over and above this under-appreciating group.... It is/was one of the better ski lounges in the east - I would put shovel handle pub up there too but havn't been there in years.

I look forward to checking out the new lodge structure at Mt. Abram. Temporary buildings seem to make good base lodges - Pemi Base Lodge at Loon and Little Eagle at Mammoth come to mind. Might be something to consider at the bottom of Jordan.

Have you ever met any of this here cross section of SR regulars? You've said you haven't, so you can't possible qualify the mean-spirited comments you have blanketed over this entire community. If you so choose to direct such comments at myself or the few others you seem to have issues with, fine, but to make those comments about the SR board members as a whole is unfair, rude, inappropriate, and completely unfounded.

Well said, CartMan. I enjoy visiting Abram and it's lodge and bar with family and friends a few times a year. I also encourage others to check out the place, if you have not, and support a great Maine family institution. We'll take your carts!

I know some of these folks you like to disparagingly stereotype

Not too many under-appreciate any bartender

You'd have to be either incredibly sarcastic or a serious asshat to make a comment like that about people you don't know

Me thinks WMS medication is wearing off and she needs to call her MD immediately for a refill. Each post is more wacky than the prior one. WMS, come on out and ski and drink with us....or you need to throw hate darts elsewhwere

Gold seasons pass holder and I plan to visit Abrams several times this year along with my family & friends.  Great place...  ski there a couple of times a year and never had issues with the bar staff.  I wish them luck and hope to see them around for many years to come.  Like anything else...  use it or lose.  It would be sad to see Abrams go the way of so many other small traditional New England ski areas.

WatervilleMaineSkier is the same person who complained about the Dempsey Challenge thread right?

Thaaaats what I thought.

Hey. I can understand if you disagree with a charity's mission/cause; but, someone who bashes others for raising money for a good cause ought to have their head checked.

As long as we're casting stereotypes: ASSHAT seems like a fitting one for WatervilleMeSkier

cross section , not the entire community. That is why I used the term cross section.  I base my assessment on recent posts on this here community site. See game changer and cantina threads.

Perhaps river hound is a plant and not a SR community regular - that would skew my cross section - christ - I skew the cross section...

Of all things accomplished on here, I give big kudo's to BobR with the toy drive.  Toys for kids PLUS early tracks for you folks. And years running with this promo. Great!

I refuse to pull back all my remarks but would offer to temper them. Merry Christmas.
