I was not there - but just amazing being able to get 101 trails and trail sections opened up to the vacation week crowd. Between midnight and 8:17am 101 trails - unbelievable.

Meanwhile, the SL crew was only able to till 33 during the same period. We not only had windhold all day on the Superquad, but double runner was on grooming hold at opening bell this AM.

How was it in Newry today??

The lack of new snow, freeze-thaw cycles, combined with a major ice layer from late January rain made for decidedly Eastern skiing. Groomers were nice, but anything else was pretty firm. I skies Canyons, Alta, Snowbasin and Solitude. First time at the Canyons (free with airline boarding pass)...probably won't go back. The place is huge but getting to where you want to ski is like commuting on the Boston subway system. All of that said, I had five bluebird days of nice cruising with friends and family. My pick of the week was Solitude....skied from second chair until closing and never road with other people. The place is aptly named !

Of course they got a foot of snow the night I left !

I feel your pain, Rippy. I left Tahoe and they got 8 feet in a week. Then again, I can't complain anytime I get to be there and will be back the first week of April.

I skied Loon on Sat and SR on Sunday, both did nice jobs resurfacing the terrain.  Excalbur and Rogue were sweet yesterday.

Yep.....no matter how much resort companies try to commodize it, skiing's still a weather bet. If it's not going to snow, it might as well be sunny. I had incredible bluebird weather for five days and got to ski with my kids, who both live in Utah, so no complaints really.

+1 for Solitude.  When I was out there nothing could hold up to the terrain i skied on that mt.  Alta was also sweet but so crowded.
