Maybe we can make this a sticky?  (or maybe it will get nuked)

Post your expirience with snow condtions and trail opening updates here.

Mrs MS69 appears to be taking a few weeks off as she needs some powder or spring snow to get her mojo back.

I am daytripping tomorrow but may stay up if condtions (and my marriage, lol) justify it.

So we know the snow is non-existent in the west this winter. How bad is it? Here is the snowpack from this year versus last year. So Its just not us here in the east.

absolutely puking snow right now 1/6/12 7:50

Look a little north into BC - Whistler has almost a 100" base and is 100% open.
Big Sky isn't doing too bad - 88% open and is even offering free skiing to EPIC pass holders from CO & CA resorts who book a hotel stay there.

I love this kind of aggressive marketing.  Big Sky is a great ski area, and if they get some EPIC pass holders up there, they will convert some of them.  Plus it great PR.

Most likely groomed.  When I left the condo last night, there was a Cat prowling the upper headwall of WH.  I can tell you the best trails will be WH, Tempest, Starlight, Lolla and if they open, Rogue Angel and the upper half of Obsession as these are the trails that have seen the snow this week.  I'm hoping a few more might see some resurface love tonight, especially Airglow.  It was a bit thin and extremely fast.  Fun with no one on it but a hazard if the masses are on it to get to and from Jordan over the weekend.

What's the plan with WH?  Not opening today, so when it does tomorrow, will it be groomed?  I know where my first runs are gonna be Sat.

TV7 report says WH 'knocked down"

My brother says he's rocking his Crystal Pass (a great Boyne Mtn near Seattle) with a good base and side country skiing - a few great powder days so far.

He promises to send aa little our way ... just couldn't get him to commit to when. :)

Crytsal and Cypress both look like they are having a decent year as well.  Cypress is showing a 6 foot base mid mountain with almost 10 feet of snow this season.  Boyne is doing ok out in the northern west areas.  Hope some folks go up to Big Sky, that place is outstanding and a bargain any year compared to Park City and CO.

+1, had a blast at Big Sky!  Would love to get back at some point.

AS Machski said, groomers were all over it last night when we were downtown for dinner. with the announcement of 7 peaks today, i bet they go with a late WH open today to claim all 8 for the weekend.

Crystal is awsome and unsung.  It is well worth the trip believe me.  I have tagged onto my wifes Business trips and gone there 3 times now.  The place is huge, steep and uncrowed.  In fact I have never even seen a lift line the times I have been there.  The side and back country are unlimited.  One of the few ski areas that an Avi transmitter is basically a requirement.

Crystal is awesome.  I love Crystal.. Don't tell R.  :) :)

They still need to get that sliver of Kansas open to give'm that 8th peak. Strange how they haven't worked that area yet. Heard something before of a pipe being frozen over there last week or so.   Must be fixed by now.
