Yo Stitzmark...didn't you just get back from Vail? Jr, based on your last post on another thread, didn't you say Kton had the best Snow? I'm following your directions as we speak Bro...?? Don't make me turn around!

He left some goods at the local dispensary, but not many...

JuneBug,  take a cab or, your personal valet from Vail to West Vail. go here and get the strawberry chocolate bar. Be sure to share.

No coincidence,....this is our flight ticket leaving Colorado....look at the flight #

Vail sucks ladies. Even the beav makes that fur trimmed golf course look lame.

Junior,

Mongolia, Siberia, and China were all spectacular,..  Never made it to Sun Up or Sun Down after Ennuffa got hurt.  The only skiing I did at Blue Sky was off map.  Tight woods with plenty of Pow, ask the locals to point you to Pete's Stash.  For apres, skip the dining guides and hit Garf's by the Gondi in Lionshead

( everything for $10 and real locals) or sneak behind the hospital to Altitude for great beers and really crooked pool tables.

STAY AWAY FROM POPPYFIELDS....WEIRD SHITE HAPPENS THERE??!!??

PS.. if in Lionshead,  go to Avalanche Pub at Marriott and say hello to my son Dylan.

Not "just".  Jr arrived just B4 I left and C-man hit the motherlode after that.  Skies have been a little dry since new year over CO, but the conditions still have to be almost as good as K-ton.  More than 6 feet in the last two weeks of Dec and around 5 feet T-day to 1st week of Dec.  MT and WY getting the goods now.

UT getting crushed…3 weeks and we make our annual trek.  Not huge fan of Vail, but with 6 ft of snow I could be.  My dad still pissed from 1987 trip there where he was charged $25 for parking….he will never return.

Bring back the powder straps

I have five weeks off when I get back Monday, may have to venture west at some point.

Thanks Cartman. All info I already had, but always good to get the "latest". We should get a storm or 3 while we're there as well. Never worried abut the conditions at Vail. Always a great time.

I know all about Pete's Stash. A little tight in places, and there is lots of inbound stuff at BSB that I like better than stash, especially anything off the Cloud 9 Track, such as Steep and Deep, Lover's Leap, and of course, the Champagne Glades on the other side. I still think the Northwoods Chair area is my favorite area at Vail, especially up top near North Rim and the cornices off Prima and Pronto. Lots of great tree skiing in there as well.

MB, there are a few ways, actually many ways, to avoid any parking fees at Vail. I will not list them here.

Cartman, I will find Dylan and say hello. What does he do at Avy's Pub? Tender? Cook? What's he do?

Wheels up at 6am tomorrow morning. Can't wait.

Parking has always been an issue at Vail - goes with the territory.  Too many vehicles and too little space.  Land too valuable for free use.  Back in the day (60's) there were free parking options, but just became a cluster and no one could get around anywhere - roads blocked by boneheads.  Town had to build a municipal garage early 70's and pay for it .... so it began.  Free parking off season and nights - otherwise pay at municipal lots and most hotels/condos.

Easy ways around it.  Fly EGE and not DEN and take $7 municipal bus to/from Vail village for least expensive option, or $40-$50 on CME door-to-door.  Cars in Vail/BC like cars in NYC - PITA - unless you belong to Vail Mountain Club (etc.), own a parking space, or own property.  Far less expensive to pay parking :)

Once on lift village to be forgotten and lots of (BIG) mountain to roam.

UT going to be killer.

not worried, no real plans to ski Vail anytime soon unless I meet up with my good buddy Jr and his crew.  1n 1987 I wasn't driving but still remember my dad almost losing it on the partaking attendant….needless to say we didnt return to Vail that week.
