I know some in here love Sugarloaf and might be interested in what Boyne is doing up there. Steve Kircher from Boyne periodically attend meeting in CV and holds open forum Q&A sessions. Here's a link to the recent session at the Town Meeting:

Permalink Reply by poe on April 6, 2011 at 10:00am Interesting. Watched the first 2 segments. Some points:
- saved $500K in snowmaking costs through improvements
- acknowledged the issue with senior pass prices but basically said it's a fair price
- acknowledged continual wind issues and have to do more - lost 1000 ticket sales over weekend to due wind hold - new lift will be much better
Be nice to see the same kind of meeting for Sunday River.

Permalink Reply by Glade Monkey on April 6, 2011 at 10:22am While admirable that he went to a local meeting, is it really surprising that he is out here ?
After all he is in charge of Boyne's Eastern Operations... so really only has three places to oversee, unless the chair lift ride in Tennessee counts too.
Did anyone say they were suprised to see him? No "surpised" parties per my brief review of this thread.

Permalink Reply by sitzmark on April 7, 2011 at 12:29am Actually 4 states to oversee: Michigan, Montana, Maine, and Tennessee 8 properties total - ski/golf. The Bay Harbor in MI is one of THE golf resorts in the country/world. The day I was there the lots were full of Bentleys, Ferraris, Lambos, etc. Even a Maybach. OK, it was a high-end concours, but that is the type of clientele served. ...Wonder if SL/SR/Loon or Bay harbor is the bigger money maker?? ;)
Not surprised that he was at CV, but he definitely has plenty of other places to be.

Not busting on you Mark, but what about NH. Does he not oversee Loon? I'm not sure the logistics of the Loon merger.
Oh I have lots of questions for Mr. K and he knows it.

Permalink Reply by Bigbob on April 7, 2011 at 7:26am Yes, he does oversee Loon also. He stated that Loon was up 14% over last year. Loon is a cash cow for them.
Boyne bought the lease from Booth Creek. Same arrangment with CNL as Sunday River/Sugarloaf.
Has anybody heard what the Cap X improvents will be at Sunday River for next season?
