Hi Folks,

Long time SR skier looking for an opinion.  I went to the ski expo in Boston a couple weeks ago and received a few $39 lift tickets to Bolton Valley.  Has anyone been?  Would you recommend it?

Thanks,

Matt

I haven't been to Bolton in a while (05/06), but it was super fun. I remember there being a lot of little stashes in the woods, and the night skiing was super fun.

Wish I was more helpful... But yes, IMO, it's worth driving up there, especially if you make a 2 day trip out of it and ski Sugarbush/Smuggs/Stowe as well.

I definitely recommend Bolton.

yea, here's my point of view on bolton. Great family mountain that is pretty spread out despite not having a huge amount of vertical. I skied there a decent amount after classes because it is only ~25mins from UVM. I always enjoy myself definitely pretty laid back and if you are looking to lap the mountain the lifts are pretty slow...That being said I always have a fun time there and would recommend it for sure. Snows almost always good and there are some great stashes to be found.

A fun place.  No high speed lifts, but some good terrain.  We stayed right on mountain a number of years ago and had a great time.  Some pretty good tree skiing if conditions are right.

I have ski there a number of times.  It is not a large mountain, but its still fun to ski.  They get a lot of nature snow.  You will have a fun.

Appreciate the input folks.  Looks like we will be heading up there and doing Stowe for a day potentially also.  Any recommendations on where to stay at Bolton?  Is the Inn decent?  I read some reviews on Trip Advisor and they weren't too promising.  We aren't looking for anything too high end, but something middle of the road.  Thanks again.

I go to UVM so Bolton is one of my pass options as it is part of the triple major pass which is Jay, MRG, and Bolton. I don't know much about it but it's known more for its night skiing but I guess when you have Jay and MRG on the same pass; there really isn't a reason to go to Bolton. Sorry, I know this wasn't much help.

There are many options in Waterbury which is only about 15 minutes away.  If you go there try the Alchemist for drinks and dinner.

I read somewhere they were not going to re-build after the storm????

It's not exactly close, but you mention you were going to add Stowe to your plans.  I've had good luck with the Town and Country on the Stowe access road.  It's not exactly plush, but they've got a huge enclosed pool/whirlpool, and every time I've been there it's been empty except for us.  I've never stayed there during the main season, I'm usually there late season for spring skiing.  It's pretty reasonably priced, especially for Stowe.
